Douglas A. Richardson
Douglas A. Richardson, 80, of Leon, passed away at his home on Thursday, November 26, 2015. He was born on December 8, 1934 to Vadis and Evelyn (Johnson) Richardson. He moved to the family farm in Leon Township when he was 5 years old. He attended Herseyville School near Rockland, then Rockland School and graduated from Sparta High School in 1952.
Doug attended a six month agriculture course at UW-Madison. He worked at West Bend Aluminum and then moved back to the family farm. He worked the dairy farm which he bought from his father and retired in 2000. He then raised Limousin cattle for 10 years and retired in 2010.
Doug married Frances Ziegler on October 31, 1959. He loved playing baseball, softball, bowling, and hunting. He enjoyed going to Limousin cattle sales and doing a little traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Fran of Leon; children, Carol (Thomas) White of Fox Lake, WI, Vicki (Robert) Meyer of Leon, Lois (Joseph P.) Flock of Leon, Alan Richardson of Ashley, ND, and Lisa (Nicholas) Sphatt of Terrebonne, OR; 17 grandchildren, Kristin (Nick), Greg (Lindsey), Ben, Kyle, Austin, Kelli (Jim) Jenn (Zac), Morgan, Ashley (Josh), Miranda (Justin), Maggie, Abbey, Lydia, Hannah, Amelia, James, and Gavin; 5 great grandchildren, Warren, Ivan, Walter, Evelyn, and Lawrence; Brother, Vadis (Maria) Richardson, of England; brother-in-law, Tom Keal of Sparta.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Dariel Keal.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 4, 2015 at the Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, with Reverend Mark Kvale officiating. Burial will be in the Leon Cemetery, Leon.
