Couples Game offers fun and insights for a good cause
A really great way to get to know a pair of elected officials is coming up, and they’ll have no choice but to answer the questions they’re delivered.
In an effort to fundraise for a Monroe County K-9 Unit, a Sparta woman has decided to organize an event called “The Couples Game”, featuring none other than Monroe County Sheriff Scott Perkins and his wife, Krista.
The Perkins’ did not know what they were getting into when Welcher approached them. She simply wants to raise money for the cause, and put together a fun and interactive event to do so.
The Perkins will be joined on stage with three other couples, including Sparta Mayor Ron Button and his wife, Jeanne; Thilling Thyme Garden Club member Bobi Cripe, and her husband, Randy; and Kwik Trip manager Jill Oswald and her husband, Daryl.
None of the contestants will know the questions beforehand. Mike Harris will DJ the event.
The take-off of “The Newlywed Game” will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5 at Club 16 beginning at 7 p.m.
There is no admission fee, but a freewill donation is encouraged. All funds will be used to help purchase a K-9 unit for the county.
Following the game, Harris will switch gears and DJ a dance for participants.
Welcher sees the benefit of having a K-9 among the county’s police force and wanted to do something fun involving local couples that could help raise money for the cause. It also is a great way for residents to learn more than they ever wanted to know about some higher profile couples.
